It was a pleasure to host Mrs. Hazel-Ann Regis-Buckles as a presenter at the Caribbean Association of Principals of Secondary Schools Biennial Educational Conference 2025, where she delivered a powerful and insightful presentation on the importance of Sports and Physical Education in schools.
As a past Olympian and current school principal, she brings exceptional credibility and a practical understanding of how sports and physical education supports student wellness, discipline, leadership, and academic success. Her ability to connect high-performance sport with everyday school realities resonated strongly with principals across the region. She challenged principals to rethink Physical Education as a core component of student development rather than a peripheral subject, and she offered realistic strategies that can be implemented across diverse school contexts.
I am confident that her consultancy will be a valuable asset to schools and educational institutions seeking to strengthen educational practice and promote holistic student development. Her credibility, clarity, and passion make her a powerful advocate for quality education.

Those who know Hazel know….she is a gem in our region. Having the experience of seeing her work, I’ve learned so much from her! I’m quite a sponge when learning from other facilitators, par excellence I must say!

Met Hazel in 2024 at the Panam Athletes’ Forum, where she shared a compelling vision of how an Athletes’ Commission can truly serve and empower athletes. She didn’t just speak in theory—she clearly outlined how commissions can create real value and guided us on what we, as Team SKN, needed to do to successfully establish our own Athletes’ Commission. From that first interaction, Hazel was intentional, insightful, and deeply committed to our success. She offered practical advice grounded in experience and followed through with consistent guidance. Hazel went beyond consultation—she walked alongside us every step of the way, supporting our planning process, funding strategies, activity development, election procedures, and ongoing mentorship. Her leadership was hands-on, strategic, and empowering. Hazel is an abundant resource, driven by passion and a genuine commitment to athlete representation and development. Because of her support, our commission is not only established, but positioned to thrive.

Hazel was absolutely wonderful with the women’s basketball team at Southeastern Louisiana University. Our support group from the community decided that it would be helpful for the students to discuss “life after basketball“. We asked Hazel because she had the athletic background, even being a member of an Olympic team, and could relate with the girls. Her experiences after her track career really resonated with the team. Hazel got them to discuss their dreams and future and was able to get them to talk out loud to a room full of people. Hazel is an excellent presenter and role model. I highly recommend her.

Mrs. Regis is a skilled motivator and strategist. One of her greatest strengths is her deep optimism in all people, students and adults alike, to achieve. Having worked alongside Mrs. Regis for over a decade, I’ve seen her strengths lead others to achieve. That strength, coupled with her coaching experiences, enables the leaders that she works with to meet and exceed their goals

I’ve known Hazel Ann Regis-Buckels as one of Grenada’s most outstanding female athletes,
synonymous with strength, perseverance, and determination on the track. She proudly
represented Grenada in two Olympic Games and transitioned into education as a principal.
My closest interactions with Hazel Ann were when she joined the Grenada Olympic Committee
as Athletes’ Commission Chair. She excelled in this role, introducing innovative programs and
leveraging her sports and education background to bring valuable insights to the committee.
Notably, Hazel has assisted other Olympic committees in the PANAM region in establishing,
improving, and expanding their athletes’ commissions.
Hazel’s impact extends beyond sports – her dedication to empowering athletes and contributing to
Grenada’s sporting growth is truly commendable.

Mrs. Regis is an outstanding leader and motivator. Having worked with Ms Regis for several years, I have seen firsthand her unique ability to bring out the best in everyone with whom she works She has a tremendous passion for empowering others to see their strengths and to identify and activate their own pathway to success. By leveraging her own experiences as a world-class athlete and successful educational leader, she builds instant credibility; but it is her openness, warmth, and ability to build trust that truly makes her so effective at helping others to achieve their dreams.
